A Little Self Portrait Action.

The other day I realized I needed some new headshots, so I can be more professional, of course. Being the subject rather than behind the camera feels super weird now - but I have to say I love to see other photographers work. I want to know how they pose, what settings and lenses they like to use, and what they like to see in a photo.

Thanks Natalie for these great shots. I love light and lot's of greenery so this is right up my alley!

Nothing Sweeter

There's nothing sweeter than friendship. I loooved taking some BFF photos of these girls on my school campus the other day. So bright and green! I also loved how they turned out, you can really see how light and fun these two ladies are.

Cassandra's Portfolio.

My beautiful friend Cassandra is looking to get into modelling and I was sooo excited. Posing is something I love to experiment with so it was fun to try new things and get new shots rather than the same old same old.

These shots of Cass in the greenery are some of my absolute favourites. The linen, the tones. Wow. I just can't get over it.

I've loved the whole chunky-earring, bright eyeshadow trend that's been going on and I couldn't wait to shoot something similar. I also tried this new technique with some sheer fabric and I love how light and airy it all looks. Part of the editing of this session was tricky because a lot of the light was... blue. Like bright blue. Kind of the opposite of the soft white and yellow tones I was going for. But eventually I figured it out, and I'm loving the end result.

Grace, Grace, Grace. I love shooting Grace. These photos were taken in our local Galt area and I love how soft the light is. Shooting in straight daylight can be stressful but I enjoy the challenge. We were able to get some beautiful shots and the wind was p e r f e c t. I love film style editing and this is exactly what I like to see as the end result.

These neutral concrete tones are my faaaavourite. I love these thoughtful photos of Darcy - we went for natural fibers and a bare face for a very model-esque look. I think this shoot would be perfect for jewelry or some kind of editorial. This doesn't happen all the time, but I remember I got the above shot that I was looking for in just a few minutes. Probably why I remember it so fondly! Thanks Darce for these beautiful pictures.

The Jensens.

This session was extremely fun. It was one of my first times shooting a family this big with kids of such a young age - and there wasn't a dull moment! Posing was a bit of a challenge, but I love a challenge. One of my tips for shooting a family with rambunctious kids is having each of them pose for their own silly or serious shot (whichever they prefer). It helps bring the focus back to posing for photos, letting them be creative and expressive (which is sometimes hard in a group shot) while also giving parents or caregivers a special photo that reflects each child's personality.

Also - how sweet is new baby Henry! I can't even handle those cheeks.

I also took an opportunity to snag some cute shots of Erik and Austen - if possible this is a great way for busy parents to share some special moments kid free... and get some great photos, too!

A Haircut in Montreal.

Griffin and I had a wonderful opportunity to travel to Montreal for a week... see the sights, eat the cheese, and hear some good jazz at a local coffee shop. We were feeling very free and fancy and Griffin couldn't resist a make-over a la Dre. And I couldn't resist documenting it.

Right now Griffin's hair is a silvery-purple and I can't help but love it. A little colour experiement is nice every once in awhile!

Movement & Mood

This is one of my earlier experiments with photography. I've always been a bit of a moody photographer - not so much with light and setting, but with subjects. Tim was my very willing moody model and I've loved this shot for a long time.

Julia was and has always been one of my favourite people to photograph. She's daring, adventurous, and loves to move around. These shots were taken while she was rolling around in the grass and I love how whimsical they are.
